How to apply for a Passport


1. You can apply online at Passport Seva Portal

2. Click "Apply for Fresh Passport/ Re-issue of Passport" link. While applying under Fresh Issuance category - please make sure you never held a Passport before.

3. Fill in the required details in the form and submit.

4. Click the "Pay and Schedule Appointment" link on the "View Saved/Submitted Applications" screen to schedule an appointment.

5. Online Payment has been made mandatory for booking appointments at all Passport Seva Kendras/Passport Offices.

6. Click the "Print Application Receipt" link to print the application receipt containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number.

7. Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Regional Passport Office (RPO) where appointment has been booked, along with original documents.


1. You can collect and submit Passport Application Form at your District Passport Cell (DPC).

2. Submit the filled application form and self-attested photocopies of the supporting documents (also bring original documents for verification) at DPC counter.

3. Official at the DPC counter will verify the application form, photograph and the documents. Once the same     are successfully verified and found to be complete in all respects, pay the fees in form of Demand Draft (DD).

4. Collect the Acknowledgment Letter after fee submission which contains a File Number. This file number can     be used later for tracking the file status using the "Track Application Status" link on the Home page of Passport Seva Online Portal.
